Donald Trump lobbied Saturday after a New York Times reports that the FBI had opened a probe in 2017 to determine whether the president had worked, knowingly or unknowingly, on behalf of Russia.  In the four morning tweets Trump said that the agency had opened a search "without reason and without proof, after I fired James Comey, a total misfortune". He called the former leaders of the "corrupt" agency.
Trump went on to describe the Federal Bureau of Investigation as if he had been "in complete turmoil" under Comey, who defined a "Cop Crooked". The president also slammed family goals including Special Advisor Robert Mueller, who is investigating possible links between the Trump and Russia campaign, and Democrat Hillary Clinton. He concluded by saying he was harder with Russia than former US presidents.
