A 26-year-old New Zealand man accused of killing a 22-year-old British backpacker and dumping his body into the bush was "disturbing" and obsessed with girls, a former softball teammate said.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on condition of anonymity, the man said he did not agree with the suspected murderer Jesse Shane Kempson, and tried to avoid spending time away from the camp with him.
"He was another type of character," he said.
"It was terrifying of girls, her life revolved around girls, leading to girls.
" She was always trying to be with the younger girls … it was very quiet for the boys. "

The former Kempson team-mate admitted to a some time, he and some other men intervened when New Zealand tried to start a relationship with a woman, warning her not to spend time with her
"He was a strange guy, and he was not so good [at softball]"said the man, noting that he changed teams several times during two separate periods living in Australia.
Kempson, who happened to have raised a son during his stay in Australia, is currently in custody, accused of killing Grace Millane, a 22-year-old backpacker girl from Essex, in the south-east of England. 39; England.
Mrs. Millane was last seen around 9.40pm on December 1st in the company of a man in the CityLife hotel in Auckland, not far from the hostel he was in, it is on the street where Kempson lived.  Prosecutors claim that Kempson killed that night, or Sunday, December 2, which was his 22nd birthday.
His body was discovered by the New Zealand police on Sunday morning after a nationwide search and international protest for his death.
Both family statements and Facebook posts suggest that the man has been troubled, fighting mental illness and isolated from his relatives.

Kempson's family has revealed that he was partly raised by his grandparents after his parents had split up when he was a child, and had lived with his mother in Sydney as a teenager.
"He was a good boy, but he almost fell with everyone, which is what happens with the destroyed marriages" his grandfather told Stuff.co.nz.
Kempson had estranged from his family in recent years, with his father telling Stuff that he had not spoken to his son for two years because of "a difference in opinion about life"  The 26-year-old is believed having lived in Sydney for several years, and her grandparents said they had raised a daughter while in Australia, but did not have a relationship with her mother.
On 29 October, Kempson wrote a status on Facebook reflecting on "bad decisions" he had taken, some of which had "greatly influenced others".
"I have reflected a lot over time and I have narrowed the cause of all this, and with this saying I believe you all deserve to know," he wrote.
"My clear arrogance and selfishness [sic] has really influenced the relationship I have with people in my personal life.
" Recently I was diagnosed with severe anxiety and I currently take drugs to keep this under control .

MailOnline may reveal that Kempson was in touch with Ms. Millane in hours before his death.
Saturday, December 1, at 9:29 pm local time, he commented on a photograph of Mrs. Millane's Facebook, describing her as "beautiful, very radiant." The young woman was seen for last time a few minutes later.
It is not clear how Kempson and Millane have met or what the reason for his murder might be.
The police arrested the 26-year-old suspect earlier this week and indicted for the death of the young Brit.
Kempson can not currently be named in New Zealand or on social media because of a court order, the New Zealand Herald reported.

Inspector Scott Beard said that Ms. Millane's body was found near Scenic Drive, which leads through the Waitakere Ranges, a famous park west of Auckland .
She was discovered about ten meters from the side of the road, hidden in the bush, with her body believed to have been brought there in a rented Red Toyota Corolla.
The red Toyota was then rented again to people outside the investigation, and was eventually kidnapped by police about 190 miles from Auckland, in the small tourist town of Taupo.
A former roommate of Kempson, who lived with him in New Zealand, told MailOnline she and her two other women the roommates asked him to leave after just six weeks, because he made them "uncomfortable".

"It almost made me sick," he said. "I immediately remembered when we all shared an apartment together in Auckland in 2016.
" He was a fantasist and a liar. I discovered it for a long time and it made the three of us very unhappy that it was at home. "
The woman, 23en ne, said that Kempson arrived at their apartment after responding to an announcement and paid the first month of rent in advance
"He told us that his parents were great in buying properties and restaurants in Australia and we believed him, "he said.

Addressing Ms. Millane's family, she said: "I can not imagine the pain of her family and what they would experience and experience right now.
